African Nations Cup: We Are Hosting to Win... Nimrod By Niyi Busari President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Eng. Musa Nimrod has said that he is confident that Nigeria will win the U-21 Nations Cup in Abuja. The U-21 Volleyball boys competition starts on September 10th and ends on 20th September 2018. In order to make the dream come to reality a total of 23 volleyball players has resumed camp in Kaduna on Sunday. Engineer Musa Nimrod who confirmed this to www.bsnsports.com.ng said preparation has already started in Kaduna where 23 players who were invited to camp at the Musa Yar Adua Hall, Kaduna start training on Monday. "Though, it was late before we got the hosting right letter, however we are determined to host and win the U-21 African Nations Cup in Abuja. "To achieve this, we had Executive Board Member meeting on Friday where we deliberated on how we will have a successful hosting, we concluded that preparation should start as there is no time to waste. We sent invitation to coaches and players to commence preparation immediately. The players and coaches have already started preparing towards winning the trophy." He expressed satisfaction over the hosting rights given to the country and believe that the boys should at least clinch one of the three available tickets for African Nations at World Championship next year. "The board are happy that we are finally confirmed by the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) for the hosting of the competition. "We will leave no stone unturn to make sure that we at least pick one of the three available tickets for African Nations which qualify them to feature at the world championship next year." He however, praised the efforts of the Ministry of Sports for their supports, using the opportunity to appeal to them for more supports. "The Sports ministry tried their best by releasing and taking care of the facilities at the stadium. "It was late before we contact the government because we got the hosting rights letter on 12th August and our government is bureaucratic in nature. Their is process in doing things in Nigeria. Despite this, I will still appeal to them to assist the federation for the sake of the Nation." He stated further that the federation has written to the headquarter of CAVB to know how many countries that will be in Nigeria and the time of their arrivals. This is to allow them make perfect arrangements for their accommodation and logistics before they leave for National Youth Games in Ilorin.
