Arsenal Makes Contact With £62m-Rated Osimhen
Ibrahim Lateef
Arsenal have reached out to Victor Osimhen's camp, with a Nigerian journalist reporting that the Gunners are prepared to trigger his release clause as they explore alternatives to Martin Zubimendi, BSNSports.com.ng has sourced.
Osimhen is regarded as one of the best strikers in the world and is attracting interest from several top clubs across Europe.
According to TEAMtalk’s transfer correspondent Rudy Galetti, both Manchester United and Chelsea are keen on the Nigerian international, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli for this season.
Speculation suggests that Manchester United are so eager to sign Osimhen that they may include Rasmus Hojlund in a deal with Napoli instead of simply paying his release clause of €75 million (£62 million, $78 million).
Arsenal is also in need of a high-quality striker, as Gabriel Jesus has been inconsistent in scoring when fit and Kai Havertz has not been particularly clinical in front of goal.
Nigerian journalist Buchi Laba has reported that Arsenal officially contacted Osimhen's camp last week and is willing to trigger his new release clause.
Laba wrote on X: “Exclusive: Arsenal finalizes plans for striker option in Dubai. - Sesko: AFC and Leipzig agreed on a deal last season, but he decided to stay. - Victor Osimhen: Arsenal officially made contact with Osimhen's camp last week. They’re prepared to trigger the new release clause. The plan is to sign one.”
