FA Cup: Ndidi Returns, But Maguire’s Late Goal Seals Man United Win Against Leicester

A late header from Harry Maguire secured a 2-1 victory for Manchester United over Leicester City in the fourth round of the Emirates FA Cup at Old Trafford on Friday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Wilfred Ndidi made his return to Leicester’s starting lineup after recovering from a hamstring injury that had kept him sidelined since December 2025.

Leicester took the lead in the 42nd minute, with Bobby De Cordova-Reid scoring.

Boubakary Soumaré won the ball and passed it to Bilal El Khannouss, who then laid it back for Ndidi to take a shot. Although United's goalkeeper, Andre Onana, saved Ndidi’s attempt, De Cordova-Reid was in the right place to head the rebound into the net.

Manchester United responded more aggressively in the second half and came close to equalizing, but Caleb Okoli cleared the ball off the line.

The breakthrough for United came in the 68th minute when Joshua Zirkzee capitalized on a cross from Alejandro Garnacho. Garnacho had beaten his marker on the left wing and delivered a ball into the box.

A Leicester defender blocked an initial shot, but Zirkzee was there to tap the ball into an empty net.

Maguire became the hero in the final moments, rising highest to head in Bruno Fernandes' set-piece delivery, giving United a 2-1 lead and securing their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
