Sami Trabelsi has been appointed as the new head coach of the Tunisia national football team, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

Trabelsi, who previously led Tunisia to victory in the 2011 African Nations Championship (CHAN), has accepted the position with minimal financial demands, demonstrating his commitment to the nation’s footballing success. The announcement of his assistant coaching staff is expected in the coming days.

Tunisia is drawn alongside Nigeria, Uganda and Tanzania in Group C in the 2025 African Nations Cup to be hosted in Morocco. The competition holds between December 21st 2025 and January 18th 2026.

Trabelsi’s appointment marks a return to the national team after his tenure from 2011 to 2013. During period, he guided Tunisia to the 2012 and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments. Following resignation in 2013, he took charge of Qatari side Al-Sailiya, where he remained for a decade before departing in 2023.
