Speaker House of Reps, Dikko Tee Off Grace Ihonvbere 60th Birthday Open

The 18-hole Mrs Grace Ihonvbere 60th birthday invitational open is underway at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, as 200 golfers are currently battle for winner prizes.

The one day event is the climax of the week-long activities lined up to celebrate the happy moments of the past Lady captain of the club, Grace Ihonvbere. 

Performing the ceremonial tee-off, friday, Speaker, House of Representatives, His Excellency, Rt. Honourable Tajudeen Abbas, PhD, represented by his wife, Fatima Abass and Chairman, National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko extolled the virtues and achievements of the celebrant, praising her remarkable contributions and impact on the sport, life and community.

They commended the celebrant for her contribution to golf development, especially during tenure as the Lady Captain of the Club.

Other guests at the 60th at the ceremonial tee-off include former Speaker, House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, Past Captains and Past Lady Captains, Club Executives, families and friends of Mrs Grace Ihonvbere and other dignitaries.

Activities that have been concluded as part of the birthday golf celebrations include Caddies tournament, Veterans, Super Veterans competition as well as Pros championship.

Speaking during the ceremonial tee-off, the celebrant, Grace Ihonvbere said this is the third time she will celebrate her birthday on the golf course 

"The first time was when i was 45 years. The second time when I clocked 50 years. And now, as I entered 60, it is proper to return to this place to celebrate with colleagues and friends to show my appreciation for their support over the years."
