Ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, coach Eric Chelle has named Jordan Torunarigha as a replacement for the injured Nathan Tella, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Tella, who has been in impressive form for Bayer Leverkusen, was set to return to the national team.

However, updates from Germany confirm that he will be unavailable due to injury. In response, Torunarigha has been called up to fill the void.

 "Jordan Torunarigha has been called to replace injured Nathan Tella. We wish Nathan a quick recovery," read a brief statement on the Super Eagles' X account.

Torunarigha, a versatile defender, has been outstanding for KAA Gent this season in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
