Breaking!

www.bsnsports.com.ng can reveal that the management of the Nigeria National League, NNL, has shifted the kick-off of the Super 8 to January 5.

NNL media officer, Amar Ignis confirmed this to BSNSports.com.ng in a phone conversation on Wednesday.

The Super 8 was earlier scheduled for January 3 but has been shifted to January 5 to allow the participating teams have ample time to plan for their travelling and logistics.

The Super 8 is expected to be played in Aba.

Recalled that five teams failed to show up for the kick off of the Super 8 in Aba in December before it was shifted to January 3 and now January 5.

NFF had promised to pay the sum of Two million naira to Delta Force, Real Stars and Gombe United who were in Aba for Super 8.

However, Shooting stars of Ibadan, Bendel Insurance, Kada FC, Remo Stars and Kogi United did not travel to take part in the Super 8 earlier scheduled for December.

The five teams argued that, once the NPFL stopped the league abruptly in week 24, chose winners and failed to relegate any club to the NNL. Then, they also, as an independent body, has the right to determine how many teams will be promoted to the NPFL.

They also added that, at the end of the season, if four teams were to be promoted from the beginning of the season from the NNL to NPFL and at the end of the season eight teams will be demoted. Then they have the right to reject the extra four teams that will be relegated.
