....Dalung Backs Super Eagles To Do Well in Russia
By Niyi Busari
The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung said that despite about 27 days to world cup he is optimistic that the Super Eagles will be one of the revelation of this summer tournament in Russia, BSN reports.
He stated further that the story of World Cup will be similar to the qualifying campaign when many people did not give the Super Eagles a chance of qualifying despite a very tough group.
"Right from the beginning when we start the campaign, i told the whole world that we are going to qualify and so many people took me as not serious. In fact, there were some who dismissed my statement and concluded that Nigeria will be knocked out after two or three matches. They added that Nigeria is going nowhere but at the end of the day Nigeria qualify historically for the first time with a game to spare."
Dalung warned the Super Eagles opponents not to underrate the three times African champions as they are out for a serious business. He believe that Nigeria will go far in the world cup.
"The results from the friendly games showed that we are not going to Russia to play. We played three international friendly games, lost one and won two including beating two times world champions Argentina. I pity any Super Eagles opponents that underrate this team." The minster sounds optimistic about the Super Eagles.
